    2024 Direct School Admission Exercise

    The DSA-SEC exercise is an initiative by the Ministry of Education (MOE) that allows students to seek admission to a secondary school based on a diverse range of specific academic and non-academic talents and achievements.

    For admission to Secondary One in 2025

    Direct School Admission (DSA) - Secondary Exercise for admission to Secondary One in 2025 takes place from May to September 2024. Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the school’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop and nurture the area of talent.

    Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for throughout their course of study in PRCS.

    The DSA - Sec Exercise is conducted in 3 main stages as follows:
    • Selection Stage (June to September 2024)
    • School Preference Submission Stage (Late October 2024)
    • Results Release Stage (Late November 2024)
    The selection criteria and process for the talent areas will be updated from early May 2024. For more information on DSA-Sec, please refer to the MOE website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec

    Primary school students who are interested to participate in this DSA exercise may refer to the instructions and the deadlines given below.

    Application

    • Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 6 May 2024, 11am to 31 May 2024, 3pm.

    • Applicants are required to login to the MOE Centralised DSA-SEC Portal to apply for the school’s identified talent area/s.
    • Applicants NOT studying in MOE mainstream primary schools would need to obtain a Registration Number at MOE DSA-Sec website: https://go.gov.sg/nmsdsa-sec-application
    Applicants shortlisted for interview and selection test would receive a notification from Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School.  The selection interview dates are either on Tuesday, 16 July or Thursday, 18 July 2024.

    Shortlisted applicants may wish to submit certified true copies of certificates /documentary proof for non-school based activities and achievements in support of the DSA application on the day of the selection /interview.

    Applicants will be notified of the selection outcome through email or hardcopy letters by Monday, 9 September 2024.

    All communication will be made via email to the email address that is indicated in the online DSA-Sec Portal. Please ensure that the email address provided is accurate and that the email address is accessed actively during this period.


    Essential Information
    1. Parents may refer to the selection guidelines stated below in the DSA application. However, meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.
    2. The school’s decision of the DSA-Sec application is final.
    3. The school reserves the right not to disclose the reasons for the non-selection of applicants.
    4. Successful DSA-Sec candidates who took PSLE are NOT allowed to participate in the annual Secondary One (S1) Posting Exercise. However, if they are eligible for third language and/or course options, they may enter these options during the S1 Option Submission period.
  • Primary 6 students may seek Direct School Admission to PRCS in one of the following areas:
    • Music and Performing Arts
    • Effective Communication
    • Fencing
    • Mother Tongue Languages
  • A) Basic Admission Criteria
    All applicants must have the following:
    • Good Conduct Grade
    • Good Personal Qualities
    Applicants must demonstrate a passion for Music /Performing Arts and be committed to contribute to PRCS in this area for which they have been given DSA in one of the following DSA Talent Area:
    • Band - Concert (Girls/Boys)
    • Choir (Girls/Boys)
    • Modern Dance (Girls/Boys)
    • Drama English (Girls/Boys)
    • Ensemble - Guzheng (Girls/Boys)
    Shortlisted applicants will be invited to go through a selection test as well as an interview.
    B) Specific Criteria

    • Have a strong aesthetics background and interest in music.
    • School based or Public Performance Experience is an advantage.

    • Do well in the selection test. The selection test involves an audition that serve to assess the following:

      • Music Aptitude
      • Proficiency of specific musical abilities or skills

  • A) Basic Admission Criteria

    All applicants must have the following:

    • Good Conduct Grade
    • Good Personal Qualities
    Applicants must demonstrate a passion for communication related programmes /competitions and be committed to contribute to PRCS in the area for which they have been given DSA. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to go through a selection test as well as an interview.

    B) Specific Criteria

    • Demonstrates strong communication skills (e.g. public speaking, debates or drama)
    • Achievement in competitions and performance experience are preferred.
    • Do well in the selection test. The selection test involves an audition that serve to assess the applicant’s mastery of the following:
      • Confidence
      • Vocal Projection
      • Clarity
      • Fluency
      • Stage Presence

  • A) Basic Admission Criteria
    All applicants must have the following:
    • Good Conduct Grade
    • Good Personal Qualities
    Applicants must demonstrate a passion for sports and be committed to contribute to PRCS in this area for which they have been given DSA. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to go through a selection test as well as an interview.
    B) Specific Criteria
    AreaCriteria

    Fencing

    • Good CCA Records.
    • Demonstrates strong interest and talent in sports beyond the ability of students in the same age group.
    • Good performance at the school and/ or club level in sports.
    • Do well in the selection test. The selection test serves to assess the physical qualities of applicants.
    Shortlisted applicants will be notified separately on the details of the selection test.
  • A) Basic Admission Criteria
    All applicants must possess and exhibit the following:
    • Strengths in Mother Tongue Language (Chinese Language, Malay Language or Tamil Language)
    • Good Conduct Grade
    • Good Personal Qualities
    Applicants must demonstrate a passion for communication related programmes /competitions and be committed to contribute to PRCS in the talent area for which they have been assigned under the DSA. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to go through a selection test as well as an interview.
